Alexandria is Monash University’s online educational platform which manages almost everything to do with their learning modules and e-books. We were engaged by Monash to redo and modernise the repository, and to produce new code base for the website’s presentation layer.
DELIVERING CONTENT IN A MULTI-DEVICE WORLD
Students work via multiple device types, including tablets, mobile phones and desktops. Alexandria's design needed a content focussed approach, with a strong emphasis on ease of access and speed. We deployed a responsive design and intuitive UX that's usable on all screen sizes.
PUTTING USERS FIRST
Our team faced the challenge of having to build off of the already developed backend for Alexandria, rather than being able to start from scratch. As such, we had to reshape the existing platform with a user centric mindset that encouraged us to put the end user at the forefront of any design choice made. We had to create a UX that not only looked great, but was highly functional and approachable as well.
A WORLD-CLASS EDUCATIONAL PORTAL
The final product was the result of the collaborative efforts of our team of designers and Alexandria’s development and management teams, a sleek platform that’s easy to navigate and content focussed. Alexandria currently has over 400 authors, 8000+ education modules and more than 42,000 users, providing students access to a wealth of educational material at their finger tips.
